About
The Riverside Theatre Project

The Riverside Theatre Project is a cross-community collaboration between the Showboat Theatre, R-S Theatrics, and the Half Act Theatre Company. In summer 2024, we produced The Sound of Music at the historic Showboat Theatre with 50% of artists from St. Louis and 50% from Hermann. Our next production is Shakespeare's Macbeth in October!
We hope to encourage thoughtful dialogue between both communities as we come together to make art. Theater allows individuals to explore different perspectives and experiences, and working towards a common goal is excellent for bridging divides. St. Louis artists will be immersed in the rural community of Hermann as they are living in donated housing during the production process.
This project will also provide theater education opportunities to local students and aspiring theater professionals. We have implemented a mentorship program in which all of our designers and production team members will train a mentee. Mentees will gain practical experience working on a professional show, which will also act as a fabulous portfolio piece. It is our hope that in future iterations of the Riverside Theatre Project, mentees will take over as lead designers.
We will also be partnering with a variety of local businesses to provide food and drinks at performances, project merch, and production-themed events throughout the year. To learn more, visit our events page or follow us on social media!
